Facial Thread Veins

You no longer have to worry about your facial thread veins. These thin vessels (called telangiectasia’s) around your nose or on your cheeks are small blood vessels near the surface of the skin, often formed as a result of sun exposure. They sometimes manifest as a general area of redness as apposed to appearing as veins.

How does Ellipse treatment work?

Short, safe bursts of intense pulsed light are directed at the skin.

The system filters the light to ensure the wavelengths used are absorbed by haemoglobin in the blood in your problem vessels. The light is converted to heat, which destroys the protein in the wall of the thread vein, causing the veins to gradually disappear, after treatment.

To ensure the best light transmission, a thin layer of gel (like that used in ultrasound examinations) is applied to your skin before treatment.

Therapists recommend a course of 6 treatments to see the best results possible from this treatment, although this may vary depending on whether you have many visible thread veins – or just a few.

Does it hurt?

As with all IPL based treatments, the sensation is likened to an elastic band snapping at the skin.

A consultation is manditory, as you will need a patch test before any treatment commences.
