With the low levels of humidity, it is important to ensure that you are moisturising frequently and at crucial parts throughout the day. The most important time to moisturise is straight after you have had a shower or washed your skin. Applying moisturiser to damp skin helps seal dampness into your skin. A handy tip from us is to always place your moisturiser next to your shower or towel rail so that it serves as a handy reminder.
We know that with the cold weather it may seem like a good idea to have an extremely warm bath or shower but something to be aware of, particularly when washing your face or hands, you should use moderately warm water. Using hot water on your face or hands can result in the removal of many nourishing oils that may be present on your skin.
Within the winter period and cooler months, skin cells tend to die at a quicker rate, in particular, this applies to our hands as they have a lot of exposure to the cooler elements. It is important to help our skin out in anyway that we can - a way that you can do this in the cooler months is by exfoliating your skin on a regular basis so that the moisturiser you use can easily get into the skin cells that need additional moisture the most. A great way to do the exfoliation is by using body washes to help the dead skin cells leave your body.
