Embarrassed by your scars and stretch marks?
Every time the skin is cut or damaged, it will heal by forming a scar. The scar is a result of a natural wound healing process that repairs the skin. At Beyond Beauty Skin Clinic, we offer safe and effective treatment to help with scar concerns. With our advanced rejuvenation programme Nordlys, we can effectively treat all varieties of scar such as surgical, acne and stretch marks.
How does the treatment work?
Ellipse Frax 1550 creates a vascular response in the blood vessels around the scar, which leads to collagen replacement. Our platform directs well-controlled pulses of light into the upper skin layer. This method is ideal for new or red/pink scars and can drastically reduce redness, whilst stimulating elastin in the skin.
Which problems can be treated?
Ellipse Frax 1550 treatments can be used on most types of scars and on stretch marks. The best results can be found on scars or stretch marks that are quite recent, rather than very old pale ones. Keloid scars (where the new tissue extends beyond the original injury) normally require pre-treatment with steroid injections - your doctor will be able to advise on this. Ellipse has pre-programmed setting for different skin types that deliver the correct energy output for your complexion.
How long does the treatment take?
Frax 1550 treatment normally involves the use of a local numbing cream, which is normally applied 30-40 minutes before treatment. Typically treatment procedure itself takes from 15-45 minutes, depending on the size of the area to be treated.
Do I need to take special precautions before and after treatment?
It is important to avoid solarium and self-tanning products before and during the treatment period. It is possible to treat tanned skin, but reduce sun-exposure prior to treatment, otherwise the treatment will be less effective and less comfortable. You will get maximum results if you use a normal moisturising cream before and after treatment.
Talk to your doctor if you are prone to acne outbreaks or cold sores. After treatment, you should use sun protection (minimum SPF 30) if sun exposure cannot be avoided.
Does the treatment hurt?
Treatment may be a little uncomfortable, which is why we recommend the use of a numbing cream.
How many sessions will I need?
For best results, we usually recommend between 1-3 sessions, however this is dependant on the nature of the scar. If you are darker-skinned, your therapist may decide to offer a longer course of gentler treatments.
If you would like a consultation, don't hesitate to contact us - one of our trained therapists will be happy to help you with your questions and concerns.
