You no longer have to worry about your facial thread veins. These thin vessels (called Telangiectasia’s) around your nose or on your cheeks are small blood vessels near the surface of the skin, often formed as a result of sun exposure. They sometimes manifest as a general area of redness as apposed to appearing as veins.
How does the treatment work?
Short, safe bursts of intense pulsed light are directed at the skin.
The system filters the light to ensure the wavelengths used are absorbed by haemoglobin in the blood in your problem vessels. The light is converted to heat, which destroys the protein in the wall of the thread vein, causing the veins to gradually disappear, after treatment.
To ensure the best light transmission, a thin layer of gel (like that used in ultrasound examinations) is applied to your skin before treatment.
Therapists recommend a course of 6 treatments to see the best results possible from this treatment, although this may vary depending on whether you have many visible thread veins – or just a few.
What results will I achieve from the treatment?
1. Removal of the thread vein
2. Decreased size of the thread vein
3. Skin texture and pore size will be improved and the skin will look brighter and younger
How long does an Ellipse treatment take?
A single session typically lasts 10-20 minutes.
Does it hurt?
As with all IPL based treatments, the sensation is likened to an elastic band snapping at the skin.
How many treatments do I need?
The number of treatments depends on the body site and the severity of the thread vein. Clinical studies have confirmed that 1-4 treatments are usually needed, and these are timed about one month apart. Only thread veins on the face, neck and chest can be treated.
